Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Train (day 3)

This is the train we went on. It left Durango at 9:45 and arrived in Silverton at 1:15. We were in the open car so there was a lot of cinder and ash, not miserable but it was distracting. The steam would spray us every once in awhile too.
The kids were "horsing" around before we boarded the train.
Not much to say but "Oh my goodness!" "That is beautiful." "Hand me the camera - quick!"

We at lunch at a neat little place called Brown Bear Cafe. The sandwiches were great and talk about Fast service! I guess they know everybody is in a hurry up in Silverton. You only have about 2 hours before your bus or train heads back down the mountain.
We decided to ride the bus back because we had heard that it makes for a shorter day - and it isn't so hard on the kids. I think it was the best money we have spent so far. This is Silverton from above. The bus goes down The Million Dollar Highway. The views are amazing and the road is narrow. Some parts were down right scary when you looked over the edge.

We even had time for a card game before bed!
